OUR MISSION
To inspire youth to imagine the beauty they want to see in the world, and to provide a platform to project their vision and voice to the broader community.
PRISM ACCOMPLISHES THIS BY:
Providing a space for exploration and creative expression.
Facilitating workshops in art, architecture, and design.
Fostering youth’s relationships with design professionals.
Increasing diversity in the professions of art, architecture, and design.
Producing public art.
Providing architecture and design services at accessible rates to nonprofit organizations and social enterprises.
WHY THIS MATTERS
There is a dearth of diversity in American architecture and art. According to the 2021 NCARB by the Numbers report, approximately 15% of licensed architects are BIPOC, and 25% are women. A recent study by PLOS One states that 15% of the art displayed in the top 18 major U.S. art museums is from artists of color, and 13% is from women artists. This has profound impacts on the culture and built environment in communities across the U.S.
